Classic Comedy of Old Time Radio
Classic Comedy of Old Time Radio is an audio time-travel excursion to the 1930’s, 40’s, and 50’s. A simpler time before the advent of the personal computer or cell phone, and, for some of these programs, even before the dawn of television. A time when radio was king. This podcast brings old time radio comedy shows to the public, because we can all use a good laugh.
Some will remember listening to these programs live, while they were actually on the air. Others may have only heard these programs on tape or cd or from another podcast. Still others may find old time radio comedy to be a completely new experience. For most, though, many of the names are quite familiar from TV and movies – Bob Hope, George Burns and Gracie Allen, Groucho Marx, and Lucille Ball.
Much credit for this podcast goes to Adam Graham, Host of Great Detectives of Old Time Radio podcast. Your host, Ron Ecklebarger, started listening to his podcast years ago and it has brought him countless hours of listening pleasure. It is from Adam Graham that the idea for the podcast and its format comes. There are a lot of podcasts out there, and even some streaming stations, that air old time radio programs. What appealed to Ron about the Great Detectives of Old Time Radio podcast was that Adam aired the episodes in chronological order – in the order that they were originally broadcast.
That is what Classic Comedy of Old Time Radio does with old time radio comedy shows. Ron has searched for all the public domain episodes of these comedy shows that can be found. The audio is cleaned up the audio as well as it can be, because some of these recordings are pretty old. These shows are then published three times a week - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
